After losing to league leaders Paola Hibs last weekend, Birkirkara were pitted against Valletta, who are in second place and still much in the fight for the title. It was surely a very difficult game for our boys, but faired pretty well until the opening goal arrived. From then on it was an uphill struggle in order to get back into the match, something which did not materialise with the Citizens sealing the victory with two more goals in the second half.
The Nursery Committee would like to announce that during Election day, Saturday 9th March, the Infetti Training grounds will remain closed, due to its proximity to the St Theresa Junior Lyceum, which will be acting as a polling station.
Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery is going to organise a fun and charitable event for all sections of the Club. The event will be based on the latest craze, the Harlem Shake. Basically, it involves a large group of people, dancing free style.
Paola Hibs did the double on Birkirkara when the latter got beaten by a 6-1 scoreline last Saturday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. This means that Paola Hibs remain top of the table, ahead of nearest rivals Valletta, while Birkirkara now lie in sixth place, with the first three positions now practically out of reach.
A dramatic goal by Raina Giusti in the first minute of added time in the second half enabled Birkirkara to pick up three precious points and ends Pembroke's unbeaten run when the Stripes defeated the leaders of the Women's Under 16 League with a 2-1 score.
During last weekend, Football and Fun were the order of the day at the Infetti training grounds as around 340 children from 14 different nurseries participated in the Life Celebration Festival, which is fastly becoming a fixture in the Nursery's calendar. This was the third edition, and it was falling on the 30th year anniversary since Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery was founded.
Birkirkara Under 15s did the double on their Attard counterparts when they beat them 3-1 at the Santa Lucia Grounds on Sunday. This win was imperative to keep the promotion aspirations alive, and also to kick-off the second round commitments on a positive note.
Last week, Birkirkara suffered a narrow defeat against Mosta in the U16 Girls' League, and their performance in general was rather disappointing. However, Birkirkara bounced back with the biggest win of the season when in a one-way traffic match, the Stripes trounced Tarxien Rainbows with a score of 10-0.
Birkirkara FC Football Nursery has the pleasure to announce that, for the third successive year, it shall be organising the Life Celebration Football Festival at its Infetti Training Grounds. Following last season's success, where the usually humble complex turned into a feast of colours and sounds, including bouncing castles, face painters, balloon modellers and more, the Nursery invites your nursery to our 3rd anniversary festival, which will also fall in the 30th year since the Nursery was establihed; a youth football celebration with focus on football experiences at the Infetti Training Grounds between Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of February 2013. This Festival will commemorate and honour the life and work of legendary football administrator Mr. Alfred Borg and football coach Mr. Mario Borg, under whom our Nursery excelled. The Festival is sanctioned by the Youth and Grassroots Committee of the Malta Football Association.
Following a short pause from interviewing persons related to our Club, for this week's interview we decided to interview the Under 15's coach, Mr. Charles Micallef.

The Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery is receiving tenders to lease the Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery bar at the Infetti Training grounds.
Birkirkara Under 17s featured in a 2-2 draw against lowly side Melita at the Rabat Ajax Ground on Sunday, a result which mirrored the rather average performance from the Stripes. Although our boys never gave up and managed to salvage at least a point in the dying moments of the match, they could not impose themselves as many would have expected them to do. This game left the Stripes' clan disappointed, both with the result and, moreso, with the performance.
Birkirkara Under 16 Girls reduced the gap with leaders Mosta and opened the league title challenge wide open as the Stripes made the best out of the goal-less draw between Mosta and Kirkop by beating Mgarr with a 7-0 score.
Birkirkara U16 Girls performed a magnificent performance on Sunday morning when they bounced back from the 2-2 draw against Pembroke by trashing Kirkop United with a 5-0 score.
