Luke Montebello renews his contract with Birkirkara FC
by Ayrton Galea - 11th April 2019Birkirkara FC is delighted to confirm that Youth Academy product and member of the National Team Luke Montebello has renewed his contract with his childhood club by signing a long-term five-year contract with our club.
Montebello returned to action at the beginning of January after completing a one-year ban by UEFA and the towering forward managed to regain his best form by earning a regular place with the Senior Team while he was also selected with the National Team for the first two matches of EURO 2020 Qualifiers.
He established himself as a key member for the Stripes following his return and by scoring in five of the last six matches, he is one of the most in-form players at this crucial phase of the BOV Premier League.
Have joined our club at a senior team level in Summer 2017, Montebello made twenty-seven appearances and scored fifteen goals while he was voted twice the BOV Player of the Match.
After putting pen to paper on his contract renewal, Montebello said, "I am happy that I committed myself for five years with my childhood club. I thank everyone that made this contract renewal to happen especially the club's president, Mr. Frank Zarb, and the team's manager, Mr. Jeffrey Farrugia."
"I would like to go on by I thank our supporters for showing their faith in my abilities and for encouraging me whenever I needed their support. Last and not least, I thank my family and my girlfriend for always being behind me."
He concluded by saying, "I promise everyone that throughout these five years, I will be giving my utmost effort to have the pride to say that I won every honour that the Maltese football offers with my childhood club."
