Post match interview with John Arne Riise
by Ayrton Galea - 3rd March 2019Birkirkara FC Sporting Director provided a post-match interview, following the victory with a 2-0 score against St. Andrew's FC on Matchday #19 of the BOV Premier League.
On the match…
We worked hard this week. We had Matthew Guillaumier suspended and we had some injuries, so we had to try and get the best out of the players available.
The first half was fine. We knew that they were going to be deep, stay low and give us no space. However, we knew that if we were going to play the ball quickly, we'll get them.
We had more chances in the second half, the second half was very good. They were tired, we played the ball quicker, we ran, we fought for the ball, and this is what I want to see. It's a big step for us and this is what I want to see in the next games.
On Luke Montebello's performance…
Luke is getting more fit now. He has everything to be a good striker because he's strong, he's powerful, he can shoot and he's good in the air.
We need to find Luke much more as we did in this match, and together with Michael Mifsud, they were amazing. Michael keeps running behind and Luke can keep us the ball. I'm very happy and we'll keep going!
On Birkirkara's aspirations to finish in the top-four...
In the second half of the match, we could see what this team can do. This is what I want to see in every game – aggressive, being together and positive play. We must take one game at a time. We won and it was important because Balzan lost their match. We must take advantage of the games that we have, we win them and then we will see where we will end up.
