Tracy Teuma selected with the Women's National Team
by Ayrton Galea - 5th October 2018Birkirkara FC offensive player Tracy Teuma will be making her return with the Women's National Team, as the experienced twenty-seven-year-old player has been selected for the upcoming friendly matches against Hungary, that will be played this afternoon and on Monday, 8 October.
Teuma is highly-rated as one of the best offensive players in the Women's League and certainly that her call-up with the Women's National Team comes as no surprise. The technical forward played a key-role in Birkirkara's positive performances in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
She will be joining no less than six other Birkirkara players, as the Stripes currently have the most players with the Women's National Team. Goalkeeper Janice Xuereb, Ann-Marie Said, Kim Parnis, Stephania Farrugia, Rebecca Bajada and Ylenia Carabott were the other players selected. Alishia Sultana was unavailable for Mark Gatt's selection as she is recovering from an ankle injury.
Tracy opened by saying, “I am thankful for the opportunity I've been giving to represent the Women's National Team. Training with the finest players in Malta motivates me to work harder. I'm learning new things and I'm sure that this experience will help me to improve my performances. Apart from that, I'm feeling good with the team and I'm enjoying the moment.”
Returning with the National Team with six team-mates certainly made it easier for her to settle as she said in her own words. “Although all players made me feel welcome from the beginning, the fact that there are some of my teammates from Birkirkara, which I've been playing with for more than 2 years now, makes me feel more comfortable and easier to settle.”
Teuma signed off this interview by reflecting on the upcoming matches. “It's going to be a good experience for me and for the whole team. Hungary are not an easy opponent but I'm sure that as a team we are going to give our very best. We have been preparing very well during this week to have a positive display on the field.”
Both matches will be played at the Centenary Stadium and will kick off at 15:00.
