Nicholas: Very grateful for all the opportunities
by Ayrton Galea - 6th February 2018Birkirkara FC Youth Academy Product Nicholas Farrugia is grateful for all the opportunities that he had with this Club so far and he is aware that debuting with the Senior Team is the start of a new journey that requires hard work.
Nicholas, aged 17, became the sixth player from the Under-19's Team to make his debut with the Senior Team this season. His debut follows the debut of Ayrton Attard, Gianluca Zammit, Neil Micallef, Nick Borg and Zack Cassar.
He opened by talking on his debut, “First of all, I would like to thank Head Coach Mr. Paul Zammit for giving me the opportunity to make my debut, my current and past coaches for all their work, and my family for their constant support. I feel very happy and proud to have made my debut with the senior team, however I know that this is only the beginning of a journey which requires much more hard work.”
Has joined our Club at the age of five years old, the talented midfielder described what the Club means to him, “Birkirkara means a lot to me, as I have been following the senior team from a young age. I am very proud to have been at this club for about twelve years now, and I am also very grateful for all the opportunities and experiences I have had.”
His debut arrived after training with the Senior Team for the last months, and the talented midfielder spoke about this advantage of this opportunity, “Training with the senior team is a great opportunity to test yourself against more experienced players and at a higher level. This is a great chance to improve.”
Nicholas is still forming part of the Under-19's Team, who this year are challenging for a top-three finish, “We have a very good Under 19's squad which can compete against anyone. The Under 19's League is a very competitive league which serves as a stepping stone towards senior team football, as all players are given the chance to improve and show their abilities.”
The up-and-coming midfielder signed off this interview by talking on his future objectives. “My objectives for the rest of this season are to keep performing consistently with the Under 19 team and to stay in the Under-19's National Team to gain more experience. As for the future, I want to be prepared as well as I can and ready for any chance I might get with the senior team.”
