Dimitrov: It's my pleasure to be back
by Ayrton Galea - 3rd January 2018One of the latest signings Srdjan Dimitrov stated that it's a pleasure for him that he has joined this Club once again, while admitting that he can't wait to make his official return on the pitch, as the Stripes face Gzira United FC on Friday evening.
Dimitrov was an exceptional player for the Stripes last as he made thirty-six appearances and scored ten goals last season. The twenty-five year old signed a fresh short-term contract with our Club, following a short-spell with FK Rigas in the top division of Latvia.
The Serbian playmaker opened this interview by showing his delight on rejoining the Club. “It's my pleasure to be back, as I have fell in love with this Club. I had a wonderful experience in Latvia with FK Rigas, but I missed this country. I have been training with the team for around a month now and it feels like home. The players and coach helped me a lot to settle quickly.”
The Stripes will take on Gzira United FC this Friday, in what could be the first appearance of Dimitrov. “I can't wait for this Friday's game against Gzira United FC. It's a very important game for us and I really hope that the fans will back-us to get this vital victory.”
The recent positive results of the Stripes certainly lifted their spirits. “Nothing is decided in the league as it is still in its half-way and I hope that we will secure a European spot. We also have the FA Trophy to play for, but we will take all games with a game-by-game attitude.”
The playmaker will be wearing a new number in his career as he has chosen the number 20. “This is the first time in my career that I will be wearing this number, and I hope it brings me luck. I have always played with the number 30 or number 10, but this time the number 10 wasn't available.”
Dimitrov concluded this interview by showing his gratitude towards the Birkirkara supporters. “I'm very happy that they didn't forget me. I hope that I can show my gratitude towards them by goals and assists.”
