U19: Birkirkara FC 1-1 Mosta FC
by Ayrton Galea - 13th December 2017Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team extended their positive run in the Youths League Section A, when they shared the spoils in an entertaining 1-1 draw against Mosta FC in the top of the table clash on Monday evening.
Only one point was separating the two sides before this match, as Mosta were leading the table with sixteen points, followed by the Stripes with one point less. The fair result leaves the standings unchanged, as both teams remain occupying the first two positions of the Youths League Section A.
Birkirkara surged ahead on the twenty-first minute. Zack Cassar did well to advance on the left before his cross found Nevin Portelli who struck a fine shot on the second post, past the Mosta goalkeeper. For the Nevin, this was his fifth goal in the league and sixth in all competitions.
Mosta made the score level fourteen minutes later, when Zachary Brincat received the ball inside the box and his shot beat goalkeeper Amara Sylla.
The Stripes will be involved in their next match of the Youths League Section A on Monday, 8 January against Qormi FC. The match will be played at the Sirens Stadium and it will kick off at 20:15.
