Women's Team off to Slovenia for UWCL commitments
by Ayrton Galea - 20th August 2017Champions and last year's Knock-Out Winners, Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be travelling to Slovenia on Monday early morning to participate in Group 6 of the UEFA Women's Champions League.
The Stripes have a very tough draw in-front of them as they were drawn against FC Zurich Frauen of Switzerland, FC Minsk of Belarus and against the hosts of this group, ZNK Olimpija Ljubljana.
Coach Melania Bajada was appointed as the new team's coach in June, and the team has prepared in the best possible way for the Club's fifth experience in the most prestigious competition of Women's football.
The squad is composed of nineteen Maltese players and the list includes no less than eighth players of the Under-19's Team. This decision is in line within the Club's vision of investing in the best young talent.
The contingent, that will return to Malta on Tuesday, 29 August, is the following:
