Women Under-17's Team register another comfortable victory
by Ayrton Galea - 23rd October 2016Birkirkara FC Women Under-17's Team registered their second comfortable victory in the Women Under-17's League when they registered a 7-1 victory over Zebbug Rangers FC on Sunday morning.
The Stripes had registered the perfect start in the league when they proved too strong for Hamrun Spartans and defeated them with a 13-0 score and they went on registering the second comfortable victory by defeating Zebbug Rangers with another comfortable score.
The First Half
Birkirkara surged ahead after ten minutes. Samantha Zarb, one of the best performers on the day, made a powerful run down the right wing before delivering a low cross to Veronique Mifsud who struck a fine shot past the Zebbug Rangers goalkeeper.
Mifsud was quickly involved into action once again three minutes later when she sprinted clear on the right side before serving Captain Sarah Urpani who hit a well-placed first-time strike at the bottom corner of the net.
Two became three on the sixteenth minute when Zarb penetrated down the right wing before finding Urpani on the left who cut inside the box and hit a fine curling strike past the Zebbug goalkeeper for her second personal goal.
Five minutes from half-time, the Stripes made them four when Veronique Mifsud produced a fine solo action concluded with a wonderful curling shot at the back of the net as the Stripes enjoyed a comfortable four-goal advantage at the break.
The Second Half
Kelly Agius Pace's side made them five four minutes inside the second half. The speed of Zarb was tormenting the defence and in another solo-action, she dashed inside the box and placed the ball at the left top-corner with great accuracy.
Michela Felice also put her name on the scoring sheet on the forty-second minute when she dribbled past her marker and hit a fine low shot past the Zebbug goalkeeper from a diagonal action to make the score 6-0.
Birkirkara scored the seventh goal on the fifty-first minute when Veronique Mifsud struck a wonderful curling shot to complete her hat-trick, before Zebbug Rangers scored a consolation goal three minutes from time.
The Stripes will be involved in the next game against Hibernians next Sunday. The match will be played at the Kirkop Grounds and it will kick off at 10:30.
