Rowen Muscat loaned to Pavia FC
by Ivan Mizzi - 22nd January 2016Birkirkara FC's Youth Academy product, Rowen Muscat, will be once again trying his luck abroad, as he has joined Italian Lega Pro side, AC Pavia on loan till the end of the season, with a possibility for a permanent move in the next season.
AC Pavia are currently in a comfortable 6th place of the league table, with 28 points, seven points astray of the league leaders AS Cittadella. Rowen Muscat will definitely be a boost to the squad in the midfield, and will help AC Pavia reach their aspirations.
This will be Muscat's second experience outside our country. In the beginning of the 2014-2015 season, he joined the Hungarian top division side, Dunaujvaros Pase. Following a six-month spell with the Hungarian side, he rejoined our Club in January and was part of the team that won the fifth FA Trophy in the Club's history last May.
After playing in all age-groups of the Academy, Rowen's debut with the Senior Team came in the 2009-2010 season on the 10th October, as a substitute, against Dingli Swallows in the last ten minutes. Muscat's name on the starting eleven list appeared for the first time on 18th October 2009 against the Hibernians, where they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
With our Club, Rowen won two BOV Premier League titles, one FA Trophy and two BOV Super Cups. This summer, he was part of the squad that eliminated Ulisses in the UEFA Europa League first qualification round and defeated West Ham United in a memorable second-leg match of the second qualification round, despite being eliminated by the penalty shoot-out.
We would like to wish Rowen all the best of luck in his adventure with AC Pavia.
