Stripes to face Rainbows in difficult test
by Ayrton Galea - 2nd December 2015Birkirkara FC will be all out to get back to winning ways and keep the pace with leaders Valletta FC when this evening, they will take on in-form Tarxien Rainbows FC.
The Stripes looked on track to start the second round of the BOV Premier League with a victory as they were leading comfortably with a 2-0 score against Naxxar Lions who also had one player sent off but a late two-goal comeback stunned the Stripes to take only one point from the match.
Despite Birkirkara have extended their unbeaten streak to nine matches, they will be all-out today to heave a sigh of relief as they got only one win from their last four outings and only two points from their last two outings.
They are currently in fourth place of the league, five points behind Valletta, three behind Balzan and two behind Hibernians after both Valletta and Balzan registered comfortable victories in yesterday's matches. The Stripes are sharing their spot with Floriana who will take on Hibernians this evening in a direct clash.
On the other hand, Tarxien Rainbows are one of the surprising packages in this year's league campaign. They are just one point under the Stripes and they are currently the best defence in the league conceding just eleven goals in twelve matches.
Following the 3-1 defeat to Valletta, Tarxien have registered five positive results as they have won out of their last five outings. They only dropped two points in the goal-less draw against Mosta before returning to winning ways with a narrow 3-2 victory over Sliema Wanderers in their last match.
Both Coaches will be unable to field their best formation as Fabrizio Miccoli is still injured for the Stripes while Ebiabowei Baker is suspended for Tarxien.
The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 18:00.
Come on the Stripes!
