Heidi Kjaer moves back to Denmark
by Ayrton Galea - 20th November 2015Danish forward Heidi Kjaer's short adventure with our Club has come to an end, as the twenty-four year old striker will be returning to Denmark to finish her studies.
Heidi joined our Club on the 16 September and she made her debut six days later in the 2-0 defeat against Hibernians in the BOV Women's Super Cup, when she came on as a substitute in the second-half. During her spell with our Club, she made six appearances, in which she started four matches and was included twice as a substitute.
Just before leaving to Denmark, we talked with Heidi about her experience with our Club. "My adventure with the club has been indescribable. The greatest adventure I ever had. I felt welcome from the first day, everyone did their best to make me feel at home and I couldn't have asked for more. Professionality, ambition, and a big love is what I found with this club. I'm leaving Birkirkara to go back to Denmark for my studies. I have my physiotherapy education there, which I unfortunately could not postpone for this season."
Despite having spent only three months with our Club, Heidi integrated well with her new team-mates and she told us, "I have not only earned new team mates, but great friends, memories and experiences. Sweat, laughs, tears, bruises and smiles have been shared with these girls. They truly made an impact on my life."
She went on by saying, "My time with Birkirkara also introduced me to a new coach, a different style, different tactic, and a different language in sessions, but he taught me so much. He pushed me in the right way, focusing on my good sides and improving the bad ones. He had time to focus on every single player. All the exercises were different and no session was alike. Many years of experience are noticeable. I'm very pleased with the coach, he is one of the best I ever had."
She concluded with a hint of a possible return wearing our beloved shirt, "In the future it's very possible I see myself wearing the yellow and red shirt again for a whole season. I can't imagine myself being without Birkirkara!"
We would like to thank Heidi for her excellent service to our Club while wishing her all the best of luck in her future.
