Stripes to face in-form Floriana

by Ayrton Galea - 6th November 2015

Birkirkara FC will have the opportunity to end the first round of the BOV Premier League as sole-leaders if they pick up maximum points tomorrow afternoon. However their task is anything but plain-sailing when they take on-form Floriana FC.

The Stripes last Monday outclassed Balzan with a 4-1 score, rated by most as the Stripes' best performance of the season. Thanks to this victory, the Stripes climbed alone to the second place after Hibernians were held by Sliema Wanderers in a 2-2 draw. Following Valletta's defeat today, a win for the Stripes will see them ending the first round commitments on top of the table.

This match promises to be a tight encounter in a direct clash for the second place, as the Stripes are second with twenty-one points, just two points over Floriana.

Slowly but surely the Stripes are reaching the expectations, as they are enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run and they have won four out of their last five matches, dropping just two points in a 1-1 draw against Hibernians.

If the Stripes are on form, nothing less can be said on the Greens. Starting the league campaign on the wrong foot with two defeats, they bounced back and they have now lost only one from their last eight matches. They are coming from back-to-back victories over Balzan and Pembroke Athleta respectively.

This will be the first match for Head Coach Giovanni Tedesco against his former club Floriana. The same can be said for the foreign duo of Emerson Marcelina and Vito Plut , who joined our Club during this Summer's Transfer Window.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and it scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
