Dr. Delia's speech during the Press Conference
by Ayrton Galea - 16th September 2015Club's President Dr. Adrian Delia insisted that the Club will remain with the same targets despite the disappointing start in the 2015-2016 season. The Club's president said this during last Monday's Press Conference.
Before addressing the press-conference, the Club's president opened by thanking all journalist for accepting their invite but before he had to thank the following:
“All the Club's members that today, for the first time in history, our Club have over 1000 Club Members and now cope with 1300 members. A particular thank you to those who wished to help further extra our Club and more than 5% joined as Gold Members.”
“All the Committee members that throughout the last three high intensive months, there wasn't a day that they brought the interest of the Club first in the list, without reservations, without time, without condition, without money bar the satisfaction of when were went out proud in front of Malta and even in front of Europe or in the disappointments like Saturday.
“The Supporters Sub-Committee who aren't only a source of hard work without break by the activities that get us together and their initiative of raising funds but among all, the continuous morale support that encourages you and renews your energy.
“Mr. Joseph Zammit that true got down from the helm of president but his work didn't stop and his help remains a silent yet a price-less one.”
“The Academy that remains the biggest source of players for the Senior Team and that we will continue, and even increase, our investment in the Academy. I would like to thank the Chairman and all the committee of the academy for all their hard work.”
Dr Delia explained the main highlights of the work of the committee over the past weeks which included the acquisition of a property next to the old clubhouse which would be developed as the home for supporters and as accommodation for the club's foreigners; intensive work to strengthen the club membership, the transfer campaign, the qualification to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League and the fine performance against West Ham United.
On the other hand, following a rather disappointing opening to the league campaign he said,“I know that we can't win the championship in this manner. Some people urged me to cancel this event just because we've had a negative result but this was never an option for me.
“We're not here to escape from reality. Of course it's difficult to start the season with this mediocrity in local competitions. I don't know the reasons but we are determined to work even harder and communicate more to get things right.”
