Women's Team to take on Raiders
by Ayrton Galea - 9th February 2015Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be all out to maintain their title challenge of the BOV Women's League, when in a difficult encounter, they will face Raiders FC on Tuesday evening.
Following an unexpected 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mgarr United last Tuesday, the Stripes are expected to come out all guns blazing to return to winning ways, before facing Hibernians in what could be a crucial match for the title.
The Stripes are in the second place, three points under Hibernians with thirty-three points from thirteen matches. Before losing to Mgarr, the Stripes were coming from two comfortable victories, by hitting four past Kirkop United and five past Pembroke Athleta.
Raiders are currently joined in the third place with twenty-eight points from thirteen matches. They won nine matches, drew once and lost three matches. Following an excellent performance which however was not enough to hold Hibernians, Raiders returned to winning ways by defeating Kirkop United with a 2-0 score.
Birkirkara should have Mariah Sciberras back in the fray after not being in the best condition in their last match. On the other hand, Raiders will have to do without Modyann Refalo, ruled-out with a long-term injury, while Rebecca Bajada will be carrying out the first of her two-match suspension.
In the first-round match, a goal by Martina Cilia, fifteen minutes from time handed Birkirkara a 2-1 victory over Raiders in a high-level and entertaining match.
The match will be played at the Charles Abela Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 16:15.
We would like to encourage all the Birkirkara supporters to come to the stadium and support the Women's Team for this important match.
Come on the Stripes!
