Stripes seek to remain on track, when they face Floriana
by Ayrton Galea - 8th November 2014Birkirkara FC will be seeking to continue building on last Monday's victory and aim for the second victory in a week, when on Monday evening they take on Floriana FC in the match which would bring to an end the first round of the BOV Premier League.
Losing to Hibernians FC in the top of the table clash two weeks ago put pressure on the Stripes. However, last Monday they gave a fine display, which enabled them to keep pace with the same Hibernians, and returned them to winning ways.
The Stripes, having their Premier League campaign highlighted by the lack of consistency, are currently in the second place, seven points away from the unbeaten leaders, Hibernians FC. Birkirkara have so far played ten matches in which they won seven and lost three, while scoring seventeen goals and conceding eighth.
Floriana's league campaign could be described as a roller-coaster ride, as they never achieved consistency. With ten matches played, Floriana are occupying the third from last position with eleven points from ten matches. On the plus side for the Greens, they have so far won four points from their last two matches, thanks to an impressive comeback against Mosta FC to beat the latter with a 3-2 score, and a 1-1 draw against Tarxien Rainbows FC in their last match.
Birkirkara will be without the services of Brazilian Rafael Ledesma as he will be serving a one-match ban after hr was sent off last Monday for a double booking in the 1-0 victory over Sliema Wanderers FC. On the other hand, the Greens will have Brooke Farrugia unavailable for their selection as he will also be serving a one-match ban, after picking his fourth yellow card in the 1-1 draw against Tarxien Rainbows FC.
The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.
Come on the Stripes!
