Birkirkara FC appoints new Club Secretary
by Ayrton Galea - 12th June 2014Following Jason Deguara's resignation, Birkirkara FC has appointed Mr. Jonathan Friggieri as the new Club's Secretary.
Mr. Friggieri, who is synonymous with the Birkirkara FC's Supporters Sub-committee, was the Club's Assistant Secretary last season, and he was the natural choice to fill in the role of Secrectary.
Mr Friggieri told us “This new position means a lot to me. In the last years I have served the Club in different roles and now I am chosen in one of the highest positions that one can have in the committee. It is special to me for the fact that I'll be holding this position with the Club that I love”
Mr. Friggieri continued by saying “As I have already said, this is one of the most important positions in the committee. From the experience of Assistant Secretary during the last season, this position involves a lot of work, because it carries the responsibility for every sector of the Club, while making sure that everything is going according to the Club's plans and targets. All this, besides the work that is required to obtain the UEFA license.”
The Club is working hard for the upcoming 2014-2015 season and preparations started weeks ago. “We have just finished all the preparations for the squad to travel to France this morning. After this training camp, we'll be working hard to prepare in the best way for the matches of the Super Cup, UEFA Europa League and the BOV Premier League”
Mr. Friggieri went on by saying, “My message to the supporters is to stay behind the team throughout the whole campaign, especially in any difficult moments that we can possibly go through. From my side, I promise that I'll try to be near our supporters in every moment.”
“There are two important things that I would like to ask from our supporters. Firstly, to be part of the Club and become a registered member. The number of members gives us strength to work harder. Also, to attend to the events that the Club organizes from time to time. Your presence is always appreciated and helps to be stronger together.”
“Finally, I would like to conclude by thanking my wife and children for always giving me their precious support. I would like to thank the Club's President, Mr. Joseph Zammit and all the committee for their trust in me and each and every single person that I have worked with during these years. Also, I would like to thank Mr. Jason Deguara for all his work during the last years while wishing him all the best in his future.”
We also spoke with Mr Jason Deguara about his decision to step down.
Mr. Deguara told us, “Following rumours that were spread in the last days, I would like to deny that I have a conflict with the Club's President or any other committee member. I would like to promise everyone that I will continue to help the Club that I have always loved.“
He added, “I would like to thank all the Club members, that thanks to their vote they gave me the right to be an observer during the committee meetings, after a proposal by the Club's president, Mr. Joseph Zammit. This shows my real and only intentions to help our beloved Club. I am proud to be part of the one of the best Clubs in Malta from every aspect!”
