Stripes wary of stern Mosta test
by Ayrton Galea - 26th February 2014Birkirkara FC will face another stern test to their title aspirations when this evening they will face Mosta FC.
Two defeats in their last three outings proved to be a wake-up call for the Stripes, as following a below-par first half against Balzan, the team showed its true quality by turning the match around. Two sensational goals by Shola Shodiya and Paul Fenech paved the way, before substitute Ryan Camenzuli sealed the issue with the third goal.
Faced with a difficult task, Mr. Paul Zammit's lads will be hopeful to maintain their three-point advantage on top of the BOV Premier League and to register their third consecutive win as they seek another doze of confidence for the final phase of the league.
On the other hand, Mosta continued to build on their recent performances to make their European Competitions intentions clear to notice as they are enjoying a winning streak of six matches.
Under the new guidance of Mr. Enrico Piccioni, the Blues showed great improvement in their play. In their latest outing, they defeated Hibernians with a 2-1 score to move just two points under the Paolites who are currently in the third place.
Birkirkara have so far registered the double over Mosta. After a 3-1 victory in the first round, the Stripes defeated the Blues with a narrow 2-1 score.
Birkirkara will be without the services of Gareth Sciberras who is suspended while Mosta will be boosted by the return of Cameroon defender Jonas Rodriguez Ekani having served a one-match in their last outing against Hibernians.
The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:00.
Come on the Stripes!
