Birkirkara Under-19's keeps top spot
by Ayrton Galea - 29th November 2013Birkirkara Under-19's Team kept their brilliant form in the Youths' League Section A by registering their fifth consecutive victory when yesterday evening they beat St. Andrew's with a score of 3-1.
The opening 1-0 defeat against Valletta seemed to challenge the squad's strength, but they made an excellent comeback by registering five straight wins.
Kurt Zammit, who has already been called to the Senior Team was once again one of the protagonists for the Stripes by netting another brace.
Kurt put the Stripes ahead in the first half. Russell Gatt doubled the lead and the Stripes ended the first half leading with a score of 2-0.
St. Andrew's pulled one back in the second half, to temporarily get back in the match. However, Birkirkara's deadly striker, Kurt Zammit, had other thoughts, and he restored the Stripes two goal lead. This third goal sealed the issued for the Stripes. The referee's final whistle found the Stripes winning the match with a score of 3-1, and enjoying top spot of the league.
