Three goals inside the first twenty-five minutes paved the way for Birkirkara FC's Under-15's Team to make it to next round of the Knockout competition, when in a match played yesterday afternoon, they defeated Fgura United with a score of 4-2.

In the first phase knockout match, the Stripes were drawn to face Section C's side Fgura United. With three goals in the bag, not many expected a reaction from Fgura, however they pulled two back. As soon as the Stripes felt that they could be in a difficult situation, they increase their level of play to seal the issue with the fourth goal.

The First Half

The Stripes went out on aggressive note, to deliver a clear statement of their intentions by taking an early edge.

Their hunger for goal was rewarded on the twelfth minute as the Stripes broke the dead-lock. Ayrton Attard saw his powerful drive being blocked by the goalkeeper who failed to parry the ball and Gianluca Zammit was in his usual ideal position to fire home from close range.

Gianluca Zammit gave more proof of his goal-scoring abilities as the opportunist striker made them two for the Stripes just three minutes later to double the Stripes' lead.

With two goals up, the Stripes were now on fire. They did not hold back and they kept pushing forward. They had the opportunity to increase further their lead and it was Gianluca Ablea who managed to score the third goal on the twenty-second minute.

The Stripes kept playing better football and the end of the first thirty-five minutes saw them leading comfortably with a 3-0 score.

The Second Half

If the Stripes thought that the game was over, and they could relax, they were proven wrong.

The boys received a lesson that football is played until the final whistle as Fgura showed great resilience and they scored twice in the space of four minutes to get back in the match.

These two goals in quick succession was a wake-up call for the Stripes who once again began to play offensive football and twenty minutes in the second half, substitute Sergio Conti, who had been on the pitch for just a few moments scored the fourth goal to seal the issue.

With a two goal advantage, the Stripes did not commit the previous mistake. They continued to play good football while they held at bay a resilient Fgura, to advance to the last sixteen of the knockout with a result of 4-2.
