Nine Birkirkara players in Malta's provisional squads
by Ayrton Galea - 4th June 2013Nine Birkirkara players, six in the senior team and three in the Under 21's team were named in the provisional squads, by Head Coach Mr. Pietro Ghedin and Under 21 Coach Mr. Ray Farrugia, for Malta's matches that will be played on Thursday and on Friday respectively.
Senior Team
Six Birkirkara players were called to the provisional squad by Head Coach Mr. Pietro Ghedin for this Friday's match between Malta and Armenia in a match valid from the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
This will be Malta's sixth outing in the competition where the Maltese will be seeking their first points after so far having suffered five defeats in five matches.
Goalkeeper Justin Haber, midfielders Edward Herrera, Gareth Sciberras, Paul Fenech, Rowen Muscat and forward Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza were the Birkirkara players chosen by Mr. Ghedin for this Friday's match.
The call-up of Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza for this match could be considered as a reward for his work throughout the season, as he had an excellent season by scoring decisive goals.
The match will be played at the Republican Stadium in Yerevan and it is scheduled to kick off at 20:00.
The Maltese contingent will leave Malta today and return on Saturday morning.
Under 21's Team
Three Birkirkara players were named in the 20-men squad by Malta's Under 21 Coach Mr. Ray Farrugia for this Thursday's match between Malta and Poland in a match valid from the European Under-21 Championship 2013/2015 qualifying Group 7.
The Malta Under 21 team will be playing an away match against Poland in the first game from the European Under-21 Championship 2013/2015 qualifying Group 7.
Zach Muscat, Ryan Camenzuli and Ryan Scicluna were the chosen players in Mr. Farrugia's provisional squad.
The match will be played at the Cracovia Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 20:45.
The Under 21's contingent will leave Malta later on today.
