Birkirkara aim to bounce back

by Ayrton Galea - 18th January 2013

A stern test will be waiting for Birkirkara tomorrow afternoon as they will do their utmost to return to winning ways when they will face the club who was in the spotlight of controversy, Mosta.

National goalkeeper Justin Haber and Mosta were the centre of attention in the last weeks but finally, Haber ended what seemed to be an endless saga as he joined Birkirkara FC just one day before ‘The Stripes' will face his former team Mosta. However, he is not available for selection for the match.

Despite playing for more than fifty minutes with one player more, Birkirkara failed to take their numerical advantage and fell for a narrow defeat to Valletta to end their unbeaten run. Before this defeat, Birkirkara were coming from nine matches without defeat.

On the other hand, Mosta were in the spotlight of controversy in the last few weeks after their squad was weakened with the departures of Luke Dimech, Ousseni Zongo, Daniel Bogdanovic and Justin Haber.

After beating Floriana with a dramatic winning goal in the last stages of the match, in their last match, they fell for a 3-1 defeat against Tarxien which denied them to take top spot.

In the first round, Jhoannattann's penalty helped Birkirkara to defeat Mosta with a solitary goal.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 14:00.

Come on the Stripes!
