Birkirkara to face Valletta in the much awaited match
by Ayrton Galea - 5th October 2012Birkirkara will be involved in the seventh league match when tomorrow evening they will cross swords with leaders Valletta in the match of the week.
Both sides are fired up from the last matches victories. Birkirkara and Valletta should produce a tight and interesting encounter where top position is at stake.
As clearly shown in recent seasons, this much awaited match should inject extra motivation in the players backed by the numerous supporters from both sides that attend these matches.
After suffering the first defeat in the fifth match of the league against Sliema Wanderers where the latter defeated Birkirkara with a 1-0 score, ‘The Stripes' returned to winning ways by hitting four to Tarxien to defeat them with a comfortable 4-1 score.
On the other hand, Valletta registered an important victory with a solitary goal over Hibernians in last Sunday's top of the table clash. So far, they are the only team with maximum points after the first six matches.
Birkirkara are in the second place joint with Hibernians with 15 points from six matches while Valletta are leading the table with 18 points from six matches. While Birkirkara will be all out for the three precious point to level points with the Citizens, Valletta will do their best to beat ‘The Stripes' to open a six point lead over the same Birkirkara.
So far these two teams met once this season, in the Euro Cup earlier in June where Valletta easily defeated Birkirkara with a comfortable 5-0 score, where the latter fielded a very young squad including players who does not play regularly with the First Team.
The math will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 17:00. Transport from Vallery Road will leave at 16:00
We would like to urge all the Birkirkara supporters to come to the stadium and support the players for this important match.
Come on the Stripes!
