Birkirkara, Hibernians all out for precious points
by Ayrton Galea - 27th April 2012Birkirkara will be aiming to achieve a positive result tomorrow afternoon when in a difficult match they will face Hibernians.
After having completed the third round unbeaten, winning three and drawing twice, the fourth round so far has been a different story so far. 'The Stripes' have conceded two consecutive defeats as they were beaten by Floriana and Valletta with scores of 2-1 and 2-0 respectively.
On the other hand, Hibernians' morale is also not very high. They were defeated with a score of 3-2 score against Valletta which saw the latter opening a six-point lead over them. This defeat for Hibernians saw their aspiration of winning the league ebb away. However, in the last two matches, they beat Sliema Wanderers and Floriana with scores of 3-1 and 1-0 respectively.
Both teams cannot afford to lose precious points. Birkirkara will be all out to keep the pace with Floriana who are just point ahead. On the other hand, Hibernians will try to make everything possible to keep the pace with the leaders. If Birkirkara defeat Hibernians and then Valletta win their match against Sliema, Valletta will be crowned Champions.
These two teams met three times in the Premier League with the first two won comfortably by Hibernians with scores of 3-0 and 5-0. The third match was a completely different story as Birkirkara won precious points thanks to a very satisfactory performance. They defeated Hibernians with a solitary goal scored by Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza who converted a penalty two minutes from the end.
Birkirkara will be without the services of Rodrigo Pereira who will be serving the first of the two matches suspension, after he was shown a straight red card in the last match against Valletta.
The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick-off at 17:00. Transport from Valley Road leaves at 15:00.
Come on the Stripes!
