Birkirkara to face Marsaxlokk in a tricky test
by Ayrton Galea - 12th January 2012Birkirkara will be aiming to return to winning ways when on Friday they face Marsaxlokk.
In the last match, against Sliema Wanderers, Birkirkara played for a whole half with one player more but not only they failed to score but they conceded a last minute goal and continued to drop more precious points.
Marsaxlokk are going through a worse crisis than Birkirkara and they are occupying the last place in the league standings. They have failed to register a win in over two months. In fact their last win was registered against Hamrun Spartans on the 5 November with a 5-3 score.
Both teams will be depleted sides. Birkirkara will have to do without the services of Shola Shodiya who is still suffereing from a hamstring injury. Gareth Sciberras and Joseph Zerafa are suspended after collecting the fourth yellow card in the last match. On a positive note, Ryan Camenzuli and Andrew Decesare will be back for Birkirkara.
Marsaxlokk's Clive Brincat is ruled out injured. Patrick Borg is suspended since he also received the fourth yellow card and is suspended for this match.
In the first round, Birkirkara registered a 2-1 victory thanks to goals by Rodrigo Pereira and a spectacular goal by Moises Avila Perez.
The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and is scheduled to start at 20:15. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 19:15.
Will Birkirkara return to winning ways or it will be Marsaxlokk who will end their crisis and start a new page by beating Birkirkara?
