Shola Haruna Shodiya joins 'The Stripes'
by Ivan Mizzi - 20th August 2011Nigerian striker Shola Haruna Shodiya is the latest player to join Birkirkara FC as he has agreed on a two year deal with 'The Stripes.
Shola was brought to Malta by Qormi F.C. and he was on trial with them where he left a very good impression. In the Hibernians Tournament and friendly matches Shola played a total of seven games, in which he managed to score ten goals. In the Hibernians Tournament Shola was voted as the best player of the tournament. However he failed to agree terms with Qormi and he chose to join our Club. this brings to an end all speculations about which Club would capture this coveted player.
After yesterday's game many expressed their views that Birkirkara still needed another striker to join Moises Avila Perez in the attacking department. Definitely this strong, fast Nigerian is the player that Birkirkara were looking for.
Shola is expected to make his debut next Saturday against Mosta where Birkirkara will be playing their second match of the Premier League after they emerged as winners yesterday afternoon when they defeated Qormi with a 2-0 score
We want to wish Shola the best of luck in his adventure with our Club.
