Birkirkara vs Sliema in Quarter Final

During a press conference held today by the Malta Football Association, in the Centenary Hall, the U*BET FA Trophy draws were held.

Bjorn Vassallo opened this conference by explaining the new U*BET FA Trophy format which will be played for the first time ever next season as all the Maltese and Gozo teams will meet without no seeding.

He added by saying that this new format will see the inferior teams compete against the present leading teams in Malta. This will result in the lower rated teams' supporters to come to the stadium and seeing their team battle against a force in this Maltese League.

There will be another new experience for the Maltese teams supporters as there is the possibility that Maltese teams will be competing against teams from Gozo in the stadium of Gozo which should be a nice experience to travel from Malta to our sister Island Gozo to watch the U*Bet FA Trophy knock-out.

He concluded his speech by thanking the MFA partners the Maltco for all their help which they are giving to the Maltese Football.

Mario Cassar who was representing Maltco, in his short speech explained the good relationship between the MFA and the Maltco and said it is a honour for them to help the Maltese Football. He hopes that in future he will be addressing another Press Conference with the new benefits which will lead to more improvement to the Maltese Football.

After this introduction the draws were held. The results of the draws are:

Qormi vs. Floriana
Tarxien Rainbows vs. Vittoriosa Stars
Sliema Wanderers vs. Birkirkara
Valletta vs. Hibernians.

The matches will be played as follows:

Saturday 19th March 2011
2.00pm - Sliema Wanderers vs Birkirkara
4.00pm - Valletta vs Hibernians.

Sunday 20th March 2011
2.00pm - Tarxien Rainbows vs Vittoriosa Stars
4.00pm - Qormi vs Floriana

All matches will be played at the National Stadium, Ta' Qali.

The conference ended with the draws of the Semi-Final Quick Keno second and third division knock-out competition and the draws were as followed:

Zejtun Corinthians vs. Narxxar Lions
Rabat Ajax vs. Santa Venera Lightings.

These matches shall be played on Saturday 14th May and Sunday 15th May 2011.
