"I want us to win as much as we can" - Emiliano Lattes

Last week Birkirkara managed to take maximum points from one out of the ten crucial matches in the Championship Pool. 'The Stripes' will be involved in their second match of this phase this Sunday, so we decided to talk with Emiliano Lattes, the BOV Player of the Match from last Saturday.

Emiliano opened this interview by giving us his views on the latest match. He said, "Last week we had a very good game, especially in the second half. The defence was very compact, the midfield kept its proper position and played the ball faster, and we, the strikers, tried always to go forward quickly. Now it is a new phase and we want to do our best to put Birkirkara where it deserves."

We asked Lattes what is the significance of this win. His reply was "It was an important win, because now we know that if we do our job well, we will be fighting till the end."

For Birkirkara FC, in this current season, Emiliano is the best scorer, the player that has most won the BOV Player of the Match, and also the player who has the highest number of appearances. We asked for his comments about all this and he said: "I'm happy for that, but I'm happier when the team wins, no matter who scores or whatever. I have to thank the coach for the confidence that he is giving me every weekend!"

In a previous interview with this website, Emiliano Lattes stated that he believes that he can perform better. We asked the Argentine if he is satisfied now or if he thinks his performances can still improve more. He said that (performances) "Always can be better. I will keep on working very hard during the week to try to improve for the weekend!"

We then asked Emiliano about his personl targets for this season. He told us, "I want us to win as much as we can: the league, the trophy, everything. We will fight every single weekend to get the three points. I believe in us!"

Then we asked him for his opinion about the January signings. Emiliano said "We got important players for the team in January and I'm sure that they will help us in this last part of the season!"

Next we wanted to know if Emiliano really believes that 'The Stripes' can defend the Champions title. His reply was that "We still have a chance. There are nine games to play yet. It's difficult, but not impossible!"

Next Sunday Birkirkara will face Hamrun Spartans in another difficult and crucial match for the Championship, and Emiliano gave us his views for this match. "We expect to win and show our best face. The team is focused on Sunday's game since the beginning of the week."

Emiliano Lattes closed this interview with a message to the Birkirkara faithful. "The most important part of the league is here, and to fight for honours we need your support as usual. I really want to thank all of you for your great support in every game we played."
