Membership Schemes launched
by Ivan Mizzi - 2nd October 2010Birkirkara FC's president, Mr Karm Galea, yesterday launched the new Membership Schemes, in front of a hall packed with members of the Club.
Mr Galea first gave a summary of events of what has happened since the last Annual General Meeting, from the success in the Champions League, to a positive start in the league campaign, and the unfortunate string of injuries the squad has suffered. He reiterated his promise that this year Birkirkara FC will be fighting for all honours.
Then the President moved on to launch a series of schemes, aimed at giving added value to becoming a member of the Club. This will hopefully see a rise in the number of members.
First to be launched was the "Discount Scheme". When members present their membership cards at participating outlets, they will receive a discount. So far there are 7 participating outlets - retails shops, restaurant, hairdressers, and a towing service. The list is set to grow, and will be maintained on the website. All members will benefit from this scheme. If any business wants to take part they are to approach the Marketing Board.
Mr Galea then explained that during the last AGM the statute was changed to allow people who are under the age of 18 years to become members of the Club, however they will not have voting rights. This means that for the first time in the Club's history, membership has been opened up for supporters of all ages. These members will form part of "Junior Members" scheme, at a fee of €15 per year. The benefits of taking part in the Discount Scheme are:
• Take part in the Discount Scheme
