Branko Nisevic talks about the Super Cup Final
by Ayrton Galea - 14th August 2010On Thursday night, Birkirkara FC played their last friendly match where they were beaten with a 1-0 score line against Floriana FC. 'The Stripes' performance was rather poor. This time round it was time for our Assistant Coach. Branko Nisevic, to gives us his comments, before the important and eagerly awaited match against Valletta which will be played for the Super Cup.
Branko's first comments were about the game where he commented, "It was another friendly game, where the main aim wasn't the result but to start moulding the team with new players. Since we had already played a game two days ago, and not being able to use the full squad, we expected that tiredness will be present in our team. Regarding the game, it was more or less balanced with both teams having couple of good chances. Unfortunately we didn't take ours, but they managed to score.
Then Branko was asked about these friendly matches played in August while in view of our squad next year he responded, "From the first day of the Pre-Season we had an idea of our team, how we will be playing and what we would need. Unfortunately in friendly matches we had many players missing because of their duties with National teams (Senior and U-21), and due to some injuries. In the last two friendly matches, from four midfielders we had all of them missing. And this affected our play. But we believe that for the Super Cup the vast majority will be available."
Finally, his last comments were about the Super Cup which will be played on Saturday 21st August at the National Stadium, as his final words were, "Our next game is an important one, the Super Cup final against Valletta. It important from two main reasons, there is an honour to be won, and because of the rivalry between these two clubs that has been going on for the last fifteen years. We are entering this game as the Champions and it is our duty to be fully focused and fully prepared for this match. It is hard to say if we will be back in our form from the last year so soon, because that is a process that needs time, but it is a fact that players and technical staff will approach this game with highest commitment, and we will do everything to be prepared for this game in the best possible way,"
