Nikola Vukanac shares his thoughts
by Ayrton Galea - 14th July 2010After the prestigious 1-0 victory of Birkirkara FC over MSK Zilina, we decided to interview the player who made this triumph possible by scoring the solitary goal, Nikola Vukanac.
When he was asked about his thoughts on yesterday's performance, Vukanac replied, "I think we played a very good game. We had been warned about the strength of our opposing team and therefore we had to play a disciplined game. Every player thrived to do exactly what our coach had instructed before and during the game, which finally resulted in the Club's most prestigious victory to date.''
It is with little doubt that yesterday's goal has been Nikola's most important action since he joined the 'Stripes'. When asked what this goal means to him, he quickly replied, "For me, this goal means a lot. This is the result of very hard work. There are special people whom I would like to dedicate this goal to, especially my family and my fitness coach in Serbia, people who were with me during the most difficult moments in my career and most importantly, Mr. Paul Zammit, my team mates for their continuous support and last, but most definitely not least I have to thank the Birkirkara supporters. Our success so far has been enhanced by them, without them we are nothing.''
The final question for 'Vuka' was regarding the possibility of our team eliminating MSK Zilina and, to this he responded in a very simple but interesting way, "In football, anything is possible. If you believe and work hard for what you want to achieve, you will achieve it. What is sure is that we shall do our very best to qualify for the third round".
