Zach Muscat was born on the 22 July 1993 and he joined our Club in the 2012 Summer Transfer Market.

Zach began his football career with Luxol St. Andrew's at the young age of 3. After he moved to Melita, in the 2004-2005 season he joined Pieta Hotspurs.

Year by year, Zach began to establish himself as one of the best young defenders on the island and at the age of 16 years old he was called to join the Under 17 National Squad. He made his debut on the 22 October 2009 in the 2-0 defeat against Northern Ireland. Following making his debut, he was also the captain of the team in the historic win against Netherlands.

Zach was also called to join the Under 21 National Squad in 2011. He made his debut in the goal-less draw against Finland on the 3 June 2011 which was the first match of UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 2 Qualifying Round. On 1 September 2011, Zach managed to score his first goal with the squad in the 4-1 loss against Slovenia.

With Pieta Hotspurs, in the 2011-2012 season, Zach had a season of ups and downs. Without doubt the positive side was his solid performances but on the negative side, Pieta Hotspurs failed to win promotion to the Premier League division after dominating the league for the first months. Pieta Hotspurs ended in the third position and Muscat managed to netted two goals.

Season 2012-2013

As expected, during the 2012 Summer Transfer Market, several clubs were interested in Zach's services but it was Birkirkara who managed to acquire his services and on Tuesday, 7 August 2012 he signed a contract with our Club.

Zach made his official debut with our Club on Monday, 20 August in the comfortable 4-0 victory over Melita, which saw Birkirkara opening the 2012-2013 Premier League in style.

The 2012-2013 season proved to be a dramatic one for Muscat. Being the first season in the top division for the promising youngster, one might have had doubt how much Zach could manage to increase in his level to reach Premier League level. However, not only did Zach manage to reach the Premier League level, but his determination and will to improve established him as one of the best Premier League youngsters.

In this season, Zach manage to earn a regular place in the Stripes' rear-guard and he managed to make 26 appearances in the Premier League competition, in which he started twenty matches while he was included as a substitute six times.

Also, Muscat managed to find the net twice, with his second and the most memorable goal arriving on the 11 May in the league-decider match against Hibernians which the Stripes won with a 3-1 score. Muscat scored the third goal to seal the issue for the Stripes to win their fourth championship in their history.

Season 2013-2014

After spending a brilliant season in his first-year spell with our Club, Zach was offered a three-year deal contract which he signed on Monday, 15 July 2013.

The 2013-2014 season was another successful for Muscat who remained a regular choice for Mr. Paul Zammit’s side. The strong and promising defender once again enjoyed brilliant performance in the heart of the Birkirkara's defence.

During this season, Muscat made a total of twenty-eight appearances in the BOV Premier League in which he started twenty-six matches while he was included as a substitute two times. During this season, he managed to find the net twice, one in the BOV Premier League and the other one arriving in the BOV Super Cup.

Season 2014-2015

His season started with the best way possible as he rewarded for his improvement after he was called-up with the Maltese National Team. He made his debut in the match of the UEFA Euro between Malta and Croatia which was played on the 9 September 2014. Croatia won with a 2-0 score and Zach played all the ninety minutes.

Zach was once regular choice with our Club and he made thirty-one appearances in the BOV Premier League, all from the start and he managed to score two goals.

The season finished on a high for the Stripes and Zach as they won the FA Trophy, after winning the BOV Super Cup in the beginning of the season. By clinching the FA Trophy meant that Zach won all the domestic honours with our Club in his first three seasons.

Season 2015-2016

Till the end of 2015 Zach made twenty-one appearances for the Stripes, in which he started nineteen matches and was included as a substitute twice. He scored three times and was voted twice as the BOV Player of the Match.

During the January Transfer Market, Zach took the next step in his football career, as he joined the Italian Lega Pro side Akragas. He moved to Akragas on a permanent move and therefore bringing to an end a successful three and a half years spell with our Club.

Zach joined our Club in the 2012 Summer Transfer Market and during his three and a half years with our Club, he won one BOV Premier League title, one FA Trophy and two Super Cups. He made 120 appearances with our Club and scored nine goals, while he won twice the BOV Player of the Match.
